Signet rings in ancient Rome featured garnet intaglios that were used to stamp the wax that secured important documents. The clergy and nobility of the Middle Ages had a preference for red garnets.

Garnet were designed to look like the warmth of Garnet . This was an attempt to make the gemstone feel like it was a polished piece filled with inclusions.
With silver ink that is easy to read it is a good set for being able to read for a long time.
